b-movie overview

this is the final look of the film, with a black and white film effect added, and a green tint, to give it that monster movie film look to it. i added some real 8mm footage to the mix, placed on top of the layer hierarchy and overlaid, gave that old flickering effect to it. finally a vignette was added by using a feathered mask from a black solid layer.

this is how the original footage looked.

still looking at various compositing techniques and practices to finalise on what is the best one to use in my animation, i tried using green screen (chroma key) to cut out the character an composite him onto the footage.

once all cut out using after effects keylight 1.2, i placed the character over the footage that we shot of outside the house, and it worked really well, i could have just shot the character walking towards the house all on the same footage, but i really wanted to use chroma keying to experiment different ways of compositing. it was good fun, but the time it takes to set up the 3 point lighting, its only necessary to use if i really need to!
